Map Making

  • Post category:Listening

Topic: Navigating A City

Mode: Interpretive

Level: Novice

Students will listen to the description of a map and draw its sketch.

Instructions to the teacher

Give your students a paragraph describing a location. It can be written or spoken. Ask students to sketch down the map of the location you described. For example:

“Wells Hall is in the east of Erickson Hall, and on the west of the Spartan Stadium. It is south of the Red Cedar River and on the north of the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS).”

Note: you can make this as easy or as difficult as you need, depending on the level of the students.
