Students will practice converting currencies of their culture(s) to that of a target culture, and vice versa.

Instructions to the teacher

  1. Complete the worksheet below by filling in the left-hand column in each section with different amount of money (e.g. 100, 1000, 25000, etc).
  2. Print the worksheet and distribute to students. Ask students to use online calculators and convert each amount to the other currency.
  3. Check their conversions for correctness.
  4. Let students practice reporting their findings. E.g. “100 dollars are equal to 10,000 Kenya shillings.”
  5. Discuss as a class which currency is stronger and the implications of that.
