Students will identify the currency(ies) from the target culture.

Components of this activity: Photos of Kenyan money

Instructions to the teacher

  1. Find pictures of the currency from the target country(ies) from the internet. Download and print photos of several bills as well as coins. If you have the actual money with you, you can use that in class.
  2. Show students the currency and teach them the name of the currency.
  3. Then, show students one bill at a time and let them mention the currency and the amount. For example, “five hundred Kenya shillings” (photo 1 below) or “forty Kenya shillings” (photo 2 below).
