Students will listen to songs from the target culture and categorize them as either traditional or pop songs. 

Instructions to the teacher

  1. Show students examples of traditional and pop songs from the target culture. Discuss the similarities and differences between these genres of music with them.
  2. Find a number of songs from each genre and play them in class. Ask students to categorize the songs based on the previous discussions. They can also list reasons why they chose a particular category for each song.
  3. If possible, develop a list of comprehension questions that students can answer after listening to each song. It could be identifying vocabulary or familiar phrases.
