Instructions to the teacher
Below, the sequence of events appears in order. Mix them up and print them on a sheet of paper. Students could be asked to number the events, or you could cut the paper into strips and have students arrange the strips in order. Of course, you may need to adjust the events in the restaurant to suit the target culture.
Instructions to students
Read through the events that occur at a restaurant and put them in a logical order.
- Tell the host or hostess how many people are in your party.
- Wait for a table.
- Be seated by the waiter.
- Receive a menu.
- Order beverages.
- Order main course.
- Respond to the waiter’s question about how the food is.
- Ask for more water.
- Ask to see a dessert menu.
- Order a dessert.
- Receive the bill.
- Pay with a credit card or cash.
- Leave a tip on the table.
