Morning Routine Picture Story

Topic: Daily Activities

Mode: Presentational

Level: Novice

Students will describe someone’s morning routine based on images.

Components of this activity: Picture story

Instructions to the teacher

This activity could be done orally or in writing. Based on the images, students should tell the story of the person’s day. If they have enough language skills to do it, you could encourage students to add more detail to the story than just the steps in the person’s routine. For example, students could imagine what event the person is getting ready for, how she feels about it, etc. Depending on the students’ level, you could consider asking them to use specific grammatical structures. If you are doing this activity orally, give the students about 1-2 minutes to prepare before speaking.

The morning routine images can be accessed on University of Pittsburgh’s “Visuals for Foreign Language Instruction” website.

Instructions to students
