I’d Like to Order a Drink

Activity components:  

  • A drink menu  
  • A native speaker to play the role of the waiter 

Instructions to the teacher: 

Set up a table at the front of the classroom with two chairs and a drink menu. Have a native speaker (you or a volunteer) play the role of the waiter. The waiter first lets the students know about 2-3 daily specials (made-up beforehand), then asks what they would like to drink. The students then place their orders with the server.  

Instructions to students: 

There is a table at the front of the classroom with two chairs and a drink menu. A waiter is going to come and let you know about a few daily specials and will then take your order. Make sure to use correct tone and register.
