Skill: Writing
Topic: Childhood and Traditions
Mode: Presentational
Level: Intermediate
Can-Do/Competency: I can write a brief story describing a memorable childhood event / experience and explaining its significance
Excerpt: Students will share a funny childhood story, writing it out, sharing with a classmate, and asking and answering questions.
Instructions to the teacher:
Ask students to write a one-page funny story that happened to them in their childhood. Once they have done that, they should pair up with a classmate. The classmate should then read the paper and develop some questions. Those questions could be asked in person, if the class is meeting in person, or they could be left as comments, if the class is online. Since it is a pair work, make sure each person reads the story, asks and answers the questions.
Instructions to students:
Write a story of one page or so that describes something funny that happened to you in your childhood. Once the story is written, you will exchange stories with someone else in the class. You and your partner will read each other’s stories and develop a few questions to ask your partner about the story.
