Students will prepare a presentation about a dish in the target culture.
Instructions to the teacher
Split students into small groups and assign them a dish from the target culture. Students will research the dish and present their findings to the class. Below is a suggestion of areas for the students’ research.
What is in the dish? | Find a recipe in the target language (if possible) and include it in your presentation. You should include: the main ingredients, a description of the taste (sweet, spicy, savory, etc.), whether the dish is easy or difficult to prepare |
Where is the dish from? | Is the dish from a particular region? If so, include a picture of the region and include information about its characteristics. Or is it eaten across the whole target country? |
When is the dish eaten? | Is the dish associated with a particular holiday, festival, or time or year? If so, describe the holiday/festival. Or is it just a regular dish? |
