Topic: Shopping
Mode: Interpretive
Level: Novice
Students will choose as many items as possible that can be purchased with the money given.
Components of this activity: Worksheets A and B
Instructions to the teacher
This task has two parts. First, students will complete an information gap task in pairs. Worksheets A and B have the same images, but the prices have been removed from some of the images. Students need to ask each other about the price of different items of clothing. After they gather all the information they need, students move on to the second part of the task. In the second part, students must assemble outfits for different seasons and events. For Part 2, students have a budget of $200. They should spend all the money and buy as many items as they can for their outfit. When you make this activity, be sure to adapt it for cultural relevance. If needed, you can change the types of clothing, and you should change the prices to reflect average prices in the target country. Note: The images in Worksheet A are linked.
