Students will listen to the exchange about making a reservation and  then answer the questions that follow. 

Components of this activity: Script, comprehension questions with answers in bold.

Instructions to the teacher

  1. Find someone to record the dialogue script with and save it as an audio file. 
  2. Play it in class and ask students to answer the questions. 

Script

  • A: Thank  you for calling [insert appropriate restaurant name here]. How may I help you?
  • B: I’d like to make a dinner reservation for 6 o’clock on Friday. 
  • A: Sure, no problem. How many people are in your party?
  • B: Four. 
  • A: All right, what name should I book the reservation under?
  • B: [insert appropriate name for language here]
  • A: Excellent, [Mr./Mrs name], we will see you at 6 o’clock on Friday. 
  • B: Thanks, bye.
