Instructions to the teacher

Make a recording of the following customer sentences; alternatively, read them aloud to the class at a relatively normal pace. Also, make a multiple choice worksheet for your students. The correct answers appear in bold below. 

Instructions to students

You are ordering a meal at a family-style restaurant with a friend. Listen to what the customer says, then choose which question the waiter asked.  

C: is the customer

C: I’ll take scrambled eggs.

  1. We only take cash.   
  2. How would you like your eggs?   
  3. How many people are in your group?

C: With cream and sugar.

  1. What would you like to order?   
  2. How do you like your coffee?   
  3. Would you like a refill?

C: Could I get some ketchup, please?

  1. Are you done with your plate?   
  2. Would you like a check?   
  3. Can I get you anything?

C: Sorry, I think we’re full and would like to pay.

  1. Would you like some dessert?   
  2. Would you like a table by the window?   
  3. How do you like your hamburger cooked?

C: Well-done, please.

  1. How do you like your steak cooked?   
  2. Would you like a refill?   
  3. Can I get you anything else right now?
