The Right Map

Topic: Navigating a City

Mode: Interpretive

Level: Novice

Students will listen to audio recordings and choose the map that matches the route they hear.

Components of the activity: Maps, audio scripts.

Instructions to the teacher

  1. Download the maps from the links given below. Transform each map into the target language by renaming all its parts. Note that formatting may be off because these were uploaded as word documents. You may need to adjust the arrows and fix other messy parts. You should also replace the landmarks that may not be relevant in your language with those that are. Then, print the maps or upload them where students will be able to access them.
  2. Audio record the scripts and save them.
  3. In class, let students listen to each audio file and choose the map that fits each description.

NOTE: There are two possible versions of this activity below. Version 2 is slightly more difficult. You can lengthen this activity by adding more maps from the links given below and creating your own scripts following the format given.
